JOINT ATNS AND GA TARRIFS MEETING
Johannesburg, Monday 15th August 2005 – Representative members of General Aviation (GA), the CAA and industry representatives from AASA, IATA, SAACAA, BARSA and ATNS once again met to further discuss the new ATNS Tariff Structure.
The meeting took the form of a workshop and was a follow up to the first meeting held 23rd June 2005. The objective of the workshop was to try and facilitate a way forward in the spirit of cooperation that already exists in the industry.
A presentation on an alternative tariff model was made – CPTS – Commercial Payload Tariff Structure. The CPTS model effectively proposes to move away from the ATNS weight based system to a pay load based system.
The workshop concluded with the formation of a Tariff Consultation Body fully mandated to investigate a working solution. The first meeting of the body will convene of 25th August 2005.
